International Organization
Dr. Annie Webb Blanton, the Founder of Delta Kappa Gamma, conceived the structure of the Society as comprising three levels: local, state and national—all closely integrated.
The local unit is called a chapter. The terms "state" and "state organization" designate states, territories, provinces, and comparable political divisions in countries where The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is organized. "State Organization" boundaries coincide in some instances with national boundaries. The national level envisioned by Dr. Blanton has become the "international" level. The terms "international" and/or "Society" refer to the overall organization with the total membership. The business of the Society, the decision-making process, is conducted by the organization on these three levels and by means of relationships among them. Every active and reserve member belongs to all three levels of the Society.
