Dr. Carolyn J. Rants, 2008-2010 international president, met with Administrative Board members, incoming international committee chairs, forum chairs and International Headquarters professional staff in Traverse City, MI, Sept. 10-13. Dr. Rants said, “This meeting allowed our international leaders to come together and discuss our vision and share their thoughts creatively. We talked about ways to listen to all members, and we began to identify actions that will advance our Society. We are fortunate that our Society gives us an opportunity to prepare our leaders. We left feeling excited and ready to ‘create a buzz’ about the Society and all we offer.”
The biennial President’s Planning Meeting included an Administrative Board meeting and numerous training, orientation and organizing sessions. The Eunah Temple Holden Fund Committee financially supports the attendance of the Administrative Board and professional staff. Activities included discussions of the Society’s Strategic Action Plan, regional conferences, committee/forum/board responsibilities, publications, communication, and technology.
The Planning Meeting provided an opportunity for each participant to understand her assigned responsibilities and how they mesh with others to contribute to the Society’s mission…to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
